Study Tips

Classroom Participation

1) You should participate as much as possible in classroom activities.

2) Reading or doing other activities not related to French in class will not only lose

your participation points but get you behind in improving your language skills.

Vocabulary words

 1) Study a few vocabulary words at a time. Example: Memorize five a day. Flash cards can be helpful.

2) After memorizing the vocabulary words, write them out several times. This is key especially for tests and quizzes. Most quizzes are spelling quizzes.

 3) Use each vocabulary word in a sentence-repeat several times. Even if you say a sentence in franglais you are still practicing the word.

 4) When studying for tests and quizzes, focus on the vocabulary words that you do not know the meaning of or how to spell.

 5) Use words you are learning in every conversation when you are speaking

English to family, friends, or even your pet. Say the word in French then in English

so that the person understands you.

6) As you are engaging in everyday conversations, see if you can identify French words you have learned.

Verbs

1) Write out the verb conjugation chart several times. Most of the quizzes will have a conjugation portion.

2) Verbally conjugate each verb.

 3) Use the verb and the vocabulary words you are studying in a sentence.
